Sam Kalmon - Owner

I’m just a regular guy who likes solving problems - and building things that don’t create new ones.

Sam's Story

Sam moved to Bozeman, Montana, in 2013 with one goal in mind: explore the mountains. More than a decade later, that goal is still very much alive. Unfortunately, mountains are notoriously bad at paying the bills, so construction became the next best thing.

Originally from Wisconsin, Sam grew up enjoying the outdoors and working with his hands. After high school, he spent some time in California before discovering Montana and deciding it was where he wanted to build a life.

“I drove out here with nothing lined up—no job and no place to live—but I knew I wanted to become a carpenter. I figured I would learn a valuable trade, work outside and see where it took me. I called the first number I saw on the side of a contractor’s trailer, and the rest is history.”

That spontaneous phone call developed into a lasting career in construction. Sam went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering Technology from Montana State University and now has more than ten years of industry experience.

As the owner and operator of Yellowstone Building & Remodel, Sam combines hands-on building experience with an engineering-based understanding of how projects come together. His goal is straightforward: deliver dependable craftsmanship, practical solutions and a finished product that clients are proud to call their own.

When he isn’t working on a project, Sam is usually getting back to the reason he moved to Montana in the first place—spending time in the mountains.
